First steps to initiate a project.<\/h2>\n

To initiate a project, you need to get people to agree to move forward. When the customer or sponsor<\/a> says that they’re in, the project can start. As a general rule, the first step in project start-up is to pick a project manager who will lead the project through the rest of the process. After the project has been approved, sometimes the project manager is given a job with the company.<\/p>\n

Do a review of what was done during the initiation and finish any tasks that were left unfinished. Make sure the customer or sponsor is well-informed before they decide to give the project the go-ahead. That’s why the first step is to figure out what the project is. You figure out what the project is supposed to do<\/a> and get information about the project, its goals, requirements, deliverables, and more.<\/p>\n

Once you have an idea of what the project will be like, it’s time to write the project charter<\/a>. This document formally authorizes the project and tells you who has the power to run it.<\/p>\n
